Can you stand this little one’s smile?? He was FULL of them at his “Sitting Up” session with us recently! We just loved meeting this sweet boy and his awesome parents!
Actually, when his mommy first contacted us for a session when he was three months old, she asked for some advice regarding the best timing for a session with us. Our next age after newborn that we used to photograph was right around three months……..however, we have since stopped offering sessions at this age, as it has proven to be an especially difficult age to photograph. Separation anxiety begins to set in around this time and for most babies, it’s just a really tough session with quite a bit of crying. At this age, we are also limited to photographing baby on their backs only, as their neck control is still developing and of course they can’t sit up on their own. We now recommend to all parents to wait until 6-9 months for what we call the “sitting up” session. This is an awesome milestone session, as baby is sitting up by themselves, giving lots of expressions, yet they are still not mobile! It is our favorite age by far to photograph! For this session, we do always want baby to be sitting up completely unassisted. For some babies this is right at six months, for others it can closer to seven, even eight, months. The key is that they can sit and hold themselves up by themselves. If baby is not able to do this, then we would prefer to wait on the session. We provide all props for our sitting up sessions- baskets, crates, blankets, rugs, etc.- we have quite a lot!
