After newborn , the next stage we capture for babies is what we call the "Sitter" stage. This photoshoot is for babies typically between the ages of six to eight months old. Our job is to tell the heartwarming story of your baby's journey to sitting up on their own- a major milestone! To capture your little one's personality exactly as they are! Are they sociable and curious? Or more of a quiet observer? As they explore the world from a brand new perspective, we celebrate and capture those sweet gummy smiles, soft rolls and playful expressions. Growing from a snuggly, sleepy newborn to an indepent little explorer, let us capture these magical moments with warmth and love. For this session, we always want baby to be sitting up completely unassisted. For some babies this is right at six months, for others it can be closer to seven, even eight, months. The key is that they can sit confidently and hold themselves up completely on their own.

When is the best time to schedule a sitting up baby photography session?
For this baby photoshoot, we always want baby to be sitting up completely unassisted. For some babies this is right at six months, for others it can be closer to seven, even eight, months. The key is that they can sit confidently and hold themselves up completely on their own. If baby is not able to do this, then we would prefer to wait on the session. On the other hand, if baby is already crawling then we need to schedule asap!
What do I need to bring to the photoshoot?
We provide all outfits and wardrobe- parents don’t need to bring anything except baby, diaper bag and a few snacks to the session! You can bring a few things for baby to wear from home if you want, BUT we have a lovely and nice collection of handmade rompers, custom knit outfits, one piece knit rompers, headbands, diaper covers, adorable hat, bonnets, etc. that go well with our style of photography. Parents can bring nothing at all to the session- and many are happy to hear this! We also usually do a few shots of bare baby in this session, if parents would like. You don't need to bring any shoes- at this age we always have them go barefoot! You can bring a few of baby's favorite toys, stuffed animals, etc.- we have plenty here to engage little ones, but sometimes a favorite toy from home can help. If baby has a special stuffed animal or book they can hold, please bring! Once you arrive, we can go through all the different outfit options, and narrow down to your favorite few looks for the session.
We also provide all hard props for our sitter sessions- baskets, crates, blankets, etc.- we have quite a lot!
What time do the sessions start?
We offer either a 10:30am or 11:30am start time, depending on what works best in terms of baby's nap schedule. We ask parents to try their best to plan accordingly for this, and bring a healthy, well rested, fed and happy baby. If baby becomes sick, we must reschedule. Due to the amount of newborn babies we see, this is non-negotiable.
How long will the session last?
For sessions at this age, their good spirits usually last for about 1-1.5 hours so the plan will be to try for a few different set up/backgrounds with a few outfit changes.
