This sweet girl came to us at 20 days- TWENTY!- and was an absolute dream for her newborn session. Mommy called us and really wanted to get in asap, and we happened to have an opening. I always tell new parents that although we are booked 4-6 weeks in advance for our newborn sessions, we do run a wait list as last minute openings some times come up. With babies that are older than our ideal timeframe of 5-13 days, I always want to be up front about image expectations by letting parents know that those “sleepy” and posed newborn images you see on our website are all of babies between 5-13 days old. Newborns past two weeks old tend to sleep less soundly and less deeply during their sessions, making those curled up, sleepy newborn images you see on our website more challenging. We always know we will get beautiful images, it’s just the amount and type of “looks” that we will be able to get within the session is the unknown and completely dependent on how baby does. Sometimes we get a much more awake and alert baby, and sometimes we get a sleepyhead who lets me pose them like they are a five day old! 🙂 This beautiful girl was 20 days old, and broke all the rules of newborn photography- she slept tons and only woke at the end for mommy/baby shots.
