I am a studio light photographer based out of Los Angeles, specializing in newborn and baby photography with my wife, Jess. My style is organic and textured with an emphasis on beautiful light and shadows. My goal in each session is to capture emotion and deliver images that will make you smile and tear up every time you see that photograph.
I'm the father of a handsome little boy and husband to an amazing and supportive wife. In all of my sessions, she is my assistant photographer, set designer, child wrangler, prop handler and wardrobe assistant. She handles all the newborns from start to finish during their sessions, and many of our clients have dubbed her "The Baby Whisperer.” On top of all that, she is an amazing mother. It is through her love and support that I'm able to live my dream as a photographer.
I discovered my passion for photography at 13, when my parents gave me a fully manual Pentax K1000. Wherever I went, my camera came with me. I guess I was the unofficial family photographer. Over the years, my passion for photography continued to grow and I made the switch from film to digital. The combination of my wife being pregnant and the birth of my son pointed me to specialize in maternity, newborn, and baby photography. I didn't want just snapshots as memories, I wanted to create art. I got the chance to document my wife in the most beautiful, glowing time of her life and to photograph my son in his smallest and sleepiest form. These images convey incredibly precious moments in time for me and is what I hope to capture for you.
Luckily, my friends were also having babies and it wasn't long before they started asking me to take their maternity, newborn and baby pictures as well. Shortly after, Matt Cramer Photography was born. I want to bring the joy of a beautiful photograph into your home. I want you to look back on those moments with the same heart that drives my passion to take them.
When I’m not shooting or editing, you can find me: snowboarding, rolling on the jui jitsu mat, fishing or hiking with my son, going to the archery range, reading or eating sushi with Jess.
Jess
I’m Matt’s partner- in life and business. Before I joined Matt many years ago, I worked as an executive in the fashion apparel industry. I traveled the world for years, with over 22 countries under my belt, until the love of our life was born in 2009. I decided to walk away from a substantial salary and benefits, in hopes that Matt and I could build a business together that would give us the life we hoped to create as a new family. It was hard at first and admittedly scary at times. But nothing of value comes without hard work and not long after I jumped on board, we made this business of ours work!
With Matt as the creative artist and my business/fashion background, we figured out fairly quickly that we made a pretty awesome team. You see, we absolutely LOVE what we do, we love meeting new people, and new parents from all over the world. We love getting to know our clients and you will often find us hanging out with parents after a session chatting with them about their newest addition, where they are from, their jobs, their families, baby products, birth stories, etc.
More recently I have also found a passion in teaching other photographers how to rank their website on Google with SEO and get more inquiries. Soon into the launch of MCP, I became extra obsessed with SEO and became a humble expert. Using what I learned, our website quickly soared to the #1 spot on Google for Los Angeles Newborn Photography- not an easy task! Before I knew it, I had photographers asking me to teach them my ways, and SEOwithJess was born.
A few extras about me: I love, love, love being a mother and can still remember the crazy, exhausting, life-changing weeks after our son was born. I never drink caffeine, love sushi and massages; Matt knows that's my dream date of all time! I wear a lot of gray and black and I’m not ashamed of the number of exclamation points I use!! I have been known to jump around like an exuberant, peek-a-boo playing monkey during our older baby sessions. I like to think I have an elevated level of taste and style, and I strive to transfer this to our newborn and baby sessions.
The smell of newborns, lavender, and vanilla make me happy. I get emotional every time I see a newborn come through our door, look a new mom in the eyes, and know I’ve been there. I love working with these beautiful little souls with Matt, and I’m humbled every time parents choose us. We look forward to capturing your new little love.

Hi there!
We are Matt and Jess of Matt Cramer Photography, your Los Angeles newborn photographers for beautiful baby portraits. We are a husband and wife team that loves documenting these new little loves and take so much pride in what we do. Ask any of our clients, and they will tell you that we put our heart and soul into each and every session! With over 1600+ newborns photographed to date, we are highly experienced in newborn photography and would love to capture your new bundle of joy. As parents ourselves, we are all too aware that those newborn days are truly fleeting and in a blink of an eye it really will be difficult to remember just how tiny they once were. Let us document them for you, so you will never forget.
After newborns, we also love to capture the "Sitters", between 6-8 months old, and if you are a previous newborn family with us, we also offer the "Cake Smashers" at one year! We feel that those are important milestones to document in your baby's first year.
As a family, we love to visit our two favorite "M" spots- Mammoth and Maui- with a little Costa Rica thrown in there! When we aren't shooting, you'll find us busy in our own backyard swimming, gardening or working on the most recent project or experiment that our son has dreamt up. We are huge fans of getting outdoors and enjoy hiking, bike riding and snowboarding. We are proud to be raising a son that prefers to be outside rather than inside!

This photo means so much to us. This sweet girl is baby #2 for this wonderful family- and we’ve photographed them both! This time they drove all the way from Anaheim! We always so honored when families come from so far to see us. 🙏
When mom asked if she could bring her wedding veil to the session, we weren’t sure how it would work, but we told her to bring it in and we’d see what we could do.
During the session, baby was so relaxed and sleepy, we decided to give the veil a try. We played around with it, and this shot ended up being our favorite. It felt so simple and sweet, and we love how it turned out.
Capturing their second baby felt extra special—there’s nothing better than watching families grow and being part of their story.
Q: Can we bring our own props to the session?
A: We usually stick to the props we have here in the studio, but if there’s something really meaningful to you, let us know. We’re happy to look it over and see if it can be safely and beautifully included.

Absolutely! I love creating setups that complement your baby’s nursery theme or color palette. There’s a dedicated space on your pre-session questionnaire where you can share all the details about your nursery design, such as colors, themes, or specific items you’d like me to incorporate.
I use this information to carefully plan your session, ensuring the photos blend beautifully with your nursery decor and create a cohesive look for your keepsakes and wall art.
